The Infinite Forbidden Set Stats

Yu-Gi-Oh! The Infinite Forbidden launched in the TCG on July 19, 2024. I’ve been excited for this set since its announcement because of the nostalgia-bait of Exodia. As a core set, it’s full of new cards, strategies, and archetypes. The highly anticipated Fiendsmith makes its TCG debut just in time for the Yu-Gi-Oh! NAWCQ. Exodia, White Forest, and Gimmick Puppet get support, and a new TCG-exclusive archetype called Mimighoul makes its debut.

You’ve probably heard of the new Fiendsmith archetype by now—it’s highly anticipated and sought after. The Light Fiends are already making a big splash in the Yu-Gi-Oh! NAWCQ in Austin, TX this weekend and have been paired with Yubel, Snake-Eyes, and even a Horus/Tearlaments/Fiendsmith deck. Clearly, this archetype is going to be very popular in the competitive meta and equally heavy on the wallet if you want to use it.

Aw! Mulcharmy Purulia is adorable, right? Behind this aquatic jellyfish monster’s cute eyes lies the glint of a controversial “C” monster, loved and loathed by many. Mulcharmy’s effect is an interesting take on the Maxx “C” effect. It’s slightly more balanced, offering a cap on the amount you can draw (and yay—there’s math involved) and putting the overdraw back into the deck. Pretty cool! It’s also going for $40 CAD at the time of writing this (July 19, 2024) on 401Games.com, so best of luck with your packs!

My boy, the Dark Magician, is getting some support cards in 2024! Dark Magician is in my top five favorite monsters in Yu-Gi-Oh! in terms of design and theme. Dark Magician the Magician of Black Magic (yes, that’s the real name) is a welcomed surprise, offering support for searching Spell/Trap cards that mention “Dark Magician” and an additional effect if you have “Shining Sarcophagus” on the field. I’ll definitely be picking up at least three of these.

White Forest is getting more support in The Infinite Forbidden, a newer archetype in Yu-Gi-Oh! based around the lore of Diabellstar and Diabellze. I haven’t been invested in those particular archetypes, mainly due to the cost associated with them, but I know they are very well loved.

EXODIA! IT’S DAMN EXODIA! Further exploiting my nostalgia, Exodia is getting a whole new wave of support in the form of a new Millennium Item archetype and a new Fusion monster…

THE UNSTOPPABLE EXODIA INCARNATE!

I’m pretty excited if you couldn’t tell. I’ll be making a deck based on these first thing. Amazingly, they are rather inexpensive compared to modern Yu-Gi-Oh! archetypes, which is good news for me.

A new TCG-exclusive archetype emerges from the deep dungeons of a fantasy dungeon crawler. Mimighoul is a new archetype with a toon-like art style focused on flip effects that pop on either your field or your opponent’s field, depending on what crazy creature you want in your dungeon. I love the theme of this archetype and would love to build a deck around it.

I need to take a moment to mention this ridiculously named card—Knight Armed Dragon, The Armored Knight Dragon. That is all.
